Southern Vermont Unanimous Choice to defend NECC Women's Volleyball Title

Southern Vermont College has been unanimously chosen as the preseason favorite to win the NECC women's volleyball title in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. The Mountaineers, who return five starters from a team that went a perfect 8-0 in conference play, received all nine first place votes and 81 points.

Reigning NECC Player of the Year Jessica Alvarez, along with first team all-conference honorees Danielle Healis and Alcia Manzo, will lead Southern Vermont who finished with a 31-3 overall mark.

Daniel Webster College placed second with 62 points followed by Newbury with 61 points. The Eagles return five starters including Chelsey Crawford while the Nighthawks will be paced by the 2011 NECC Rookie of the Year Sydney Fish.
