LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The New England Collegiate Conference had two student athletes earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-New England Region Second Team. Representing the NECC from Bay Path University was junior Lauren Vallee and from Lesley University was senior Mekenzi Golden.
Lauren Vallee was recognized on the NFCA Second Team at shortstop for her outstanding season. The Bristol, Conn. leader led her team to a 23-17 record and an 11-7 NECC 5th place regular season finish and a 3rd place NECC Championship finish. She also was selected by the NECC as the Player of the Year and 1st Team All-NECC as a shortstop.
It was record setting year for Vallee and her teammates as individual and team records were broken. Team records included; most wins (23), most runs, hits and extra base hits.
Her final statistics reflected that as she led NECC in the following categories: Batting average (.566), RBI’s (47), slugging percentage (1.133), total bases (128), home runs (11), hits (64), doubles (19), and on-base percentage (.597).
At the time of this article Vallee is also the NCAA DIII leader amongst over 5,000 players in slugging percentage, total bases, and doubles per game, while ranking in the top five in four other categories.
Lesley University outfielder Mekenzi Golden (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) was selected to the (NFCA) All-New England Region Second Team for the third time in her collegiate career.
Golden led the Lynx to their seventh (NECC) title earning All-Tournament MVP honors after posting a staggering .632 batting average during the tournament. In addition, the Southern California native was also named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team at Babson Park.
Over the course of the 41 game season, Golden registered a career year posting a single-season best .434 batting average (59-130) with a staggering 1.326 OPS (.503 OBP, .823 SLG%). While surpassing individual single-season highs registering 15 doubles, three triples, nine homeruns and 42 RBIs she tied former Lynx Jodi Fralick '12 for the program's all-time RBI record with 151.
