ATTLEBORO, Mass. – With victories over both Mitchell and Becker, Dean College finished conference play undefeated at 2-0 (9-4 overall) and has earned the top spot in the NECC Men’s Lacrosse Championship. In their first year in the conference, the Bulldogs, led by second year head coach Matt Schairer, are at the top of the league in nearly every team statistical category. Senior attack Colin Hinrichs leads the league with 43 goals, while his teammate Brody Fredericks leads the league with 31 assists. Hinrichs and Fredericks are tied for the league lead in points with 58. Goalkeeper Madison Olsen boasts a league-leading 9.16 goals-against average, and 59.1 save percentage, both tops in the league. With the number one seed, Dean has earned a bye, and will host the Championship game on Saturday, April 28 at 1:00 p.m.
Landing the second seed is Becker College, who finished 1-1 in conference, and 2-12 overall. The Hawks will look to newcomer Matthew Guerin to make an impact, as the freshman finished the regular season fourth in the conference in goals, with 21, and fifth in the conference in points with 27. Becker will host the third seed, Mitchell College on Wednesday, April 25, at 4:00 p.m. Mitchell finished the season with no conference wins, and an 0-12 overall record. The Mariners are led by junior midfielder, Kyle Marsh, who finished the regular season with 19 goals and eight assists, good for fifth and sixth in the conference, respectively.
