NECC 2011-12 Men's Basketball All-Conference Teams Announced

Becker senior forward Terrance Favors was selected the 2011-12 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year in a vote of the league's coaches. Favors averaged 17.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game leading the Hawks to an undefeated NECC regular season and their first NECC title.

Mitchell sophomore Joshua Ford was named the league's Rookie of the Year. Ford, who was also a first-team all-conference selection, led the NECC in rebounding (12.4 rpg) and ranked among the league leaders in points (14.9 ppg), steals (2.2 spg), assists (2.9 apg), blocks (0.8 bpg) and field goal percentage (45.5%).

Joining Ford and Favors on the all-conference first team is Lesley senior guard John Sanchez.  Sanchez led the league in assists averaging 5.0 per conference contest and ranked in the top five in the NECC in scoring (18.8 ppg), steals (2.4 spg), field goal percentage (49.4%) and free throw percentage (84.5%).

Southern Vermont junior guard Taeshon Johnson also garnered first team all-conference honors. Johnson led the league in scoring averaging 23.6 points along with 9.9 rebounds per conference contest.

Elms junior guard Andre French earned first team accolades after averaging 15.2 points per game during Elms' NECC slate and hitting 36% from three-point range and 84.7% from the free throw line. French averaged 2.8 apg and was second in the conference averaging 3.1 steals per game.

Becker head coach Brian Gorman was honored by his peers as the league's top coach after guiding the Hawks to an undefeated regular season and NECC championship.

Regis College garnered the league's Sportsmanship Award.

NECC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches. Additional players honored are due to ties in the voting process.
