Player of the Week
Brian Hadden, Dean
Hadden was stellar during a five game week, hitting .667 in 21 at-bats. His highlight game of the week was a 6-for-6 performance at the plate with a pair of doubles and three RBI in a 15-13 loss to Coast Guard. Against Bates, he went 3-for-4, and went 3-for-4 in an 8-2 win over Newbury. For the week, he drove in seven runs, scored eight times and had a .708 on-base percentage and a .952 slugging percentage while collecting 20 total bases and five extra base hits.
Pitcher of the Week
Thomas Owens, Elms
Owens helped pick up two wins for the Blazers in his two appearances last week as he earned a 0.00 ERA. The senior earned one win and one save on the mound while facing conference opponent Eastern Nazarene in a doubleheader. The pitcher’s week was highlighted when he took the mound in the sixth inning and struck out seven to claim the 7-6 victory while only allowing three hits in his four innings of work.
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Solimine, Mitchell
Solimine tossed a four-hit shutout and struck out six without issuing a walk in a conference win against a potent New England College lineup last week. He improved to 6-1 on the season and never allowed a runner past second base. After giving up a double to the leadoff man in the first, he retired the next eight NEC batters he faced and didn't hit trouble again until the fifth. In that inning he yielded a two-out double but got out of the inning unscathed, and he retired the side in order in the sixth and seventh to seal the victory.
