NECC Baseball Athletes of the Week #1

Player of the Week

Ryan Serrato (Sr., 1B/RHP), Southern Vermont College

Senior Ryan Serrato (Whittier, Calif.) had a stellar start to the season as he went 5-6 with a pair of walks through two games at SUNY Maritime on February 23. The first baseman launched a two-run homer the opposite way in his first plate appearance as a Mountaineer, and he followed with back-to-back doubles in the doubleheader's opener before getting intentionally walked with the go-ahead run at second in the seventh inning. Serrato then went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored in game two. The senior totaled a 1.667 slugging percentage, three RBI's, two runs scored, and 10 total bases to begin the year, and he was perfect in the field through 16 total chances. He was subsequently named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for his performance.

DelaCruz also led the team in on-base percentage (.714) and slugging (1.000) for the week.
