Player of the Week
John Arancio (Sr., 3B), Southern Vermont College
Senior John Arancio (Oradell, N.J.) hit the cover off the ball last week, as he batted .688 with a 1.500 slugging percentage through Southern Vermont’s four games. He hit a home run in three-straight games, including his second grand slam of the year. The senior totaled 11 RBI, nine runs scored and a walk. In his 16 at-bats, Arancio only struck out once, while registering two doubles and a triple. In the Mountaineers conference win over Newbury, the senior hit for the cycle, going 4-for-5 at the plate. The Mountaineer then tallied his 100th career hit in the backend of a doubleheader with Lesley.
Pitcher of the Week
Eddie Santiago (Sr., P), Mitchell College
Senior Eddie Santiago (New London, Conn.) went 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA in NECC action last week, helping Mitchell to a 5-1 record. He tossed a complete game shutout at Lesley, striking out five while scattering six hits. Five days later he took the ball against Elms and spun another gem, striking out seven while yielding one run on three hits over 6.0 innings.
Rookie of the Week
William Negron (Fr., C), Becker College
Freshman William Negron (Bronx, N.Y.) hit an outstanding .471 this past week, including two multi-hit games. He totaled eight RBI, four doubles and a home run at the plate, while also proving to be a threat on the bases, with two stolen bases and four runs scored. In his top performance of the week, the freshman went 3-for-3 with six RBI against Dean.
