Daniel Webster Coaches' Top Choice in NECC Baseball Pre-Season Poll

Daniel Webster College has been chosen to finish at the top of the 2012 NECC Baseball standings in a vote by the leagues coaches. The Eagles, who received four first place votes and 44 points, return 21 players with six starters including three first-team all-conference selections. Senior starting pitcher Kory Kiro posted a 6-1 mark with a 3.31 ERA last season. Kiro will look to junior center fielder Josh Chasse and sophomore designated hitter Korey LeLievre to lead the offense.

Becker College and Southern Vermont College each finished with 37 points and one first place vote in a tie for second place. The Mountaineers will be led by senior center fielder Pat Warrington and junior first baseman Corey Armstrong, both first team all-league selections in 2011.

Junior catcher Todd Tompkins will look to anchor the Hawks offense after leading the team with a .387 batting average, 43 hits and 62 total bases in 2011.

Newbury was picked fourth with 34 points and one first place vote. The Nighthawks return seven starters led by senior catcher Patrick Curry who was a first-team all-conference honoree last season.
