NEW ENGLAND COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE
The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), a NCAA Division III conference composed of nine private colleges in New England, is conducting a search for a Conference Commissioner.
The NECC Commissioner will serve as the chief administrative officer of the conference responsible for day-to-day operations, act as liaison between the Presidents and Directors of Athletics, administer, interpret, and enforce NCAA and NECC policies and regulations. He or she will assist with the development and maintenance of the NECC budget and financial records, develop a conference schedule, and oversee the sports information function of the conference including the NECC website. The Commissioner will represent the conference at regional and national meetings and events.
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree although an advanced degree is preferred. The individual should have a proven record of at least five years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in education or a related field, familiarity with the NCAA rules and regulations, a working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, and an understanding of Division III philosophy. The position demands strong leadership skills, attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills, including grant writing, and an ability to relate effectively with all constituencies within the NECC.
Salary is commensurate with experience. The location of the conference office will be determined as the search process unfolds. Anticipated start date is June 15, 2008.
