Becker Hires Two

(Worcester/Leicester, Mass.) - Becker College Athletic Director Frank Millerick announced today the hiring of Samly Phonesavanh as the head women's lacrosse coach and Mike Sarno as the men's baseball coach.

Millerick also announced that Becker will not be renewing the contracts for Mel Mills, head football coach and Warren Pollard, assistant football coach.

Phonesavanh will take over the second year lacrosse program. Her resume includes a two year stint as assistant woman's lacrosse coach at Eastern Connecticut State University and a year on the sidelines at Franklin Elementary School in Franklin, CT. The Danielson, CT resident has a Masters of Liberal Arts and Bachelor of Science from ECSU. Samly was a member of the ECSU women's lacrosse and women's soccer teams.

Sarno brings over 20 years of NCAA Division III coaching experience to Becker. Mike spent 16 years at Framingham State College where he is the all time leader in wins. He led the Rams to seven ECAC tournaments. In the off season Sarno is also an assistant coach in the prestigious Cape Cod League with the Harwich Mariners. The Medway, MA resident has a Bachelors degree from Framingham State College.
