Katie Hartman-Boldvich Selected as NECC Commissioner

Attleboro, Mass.– The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced the hiring of Katie Hartman-Boldvich as its second Commissioner, effective July 1, 2018.

Boldvich brings years of intercollegiate athletics experience to the NECC including serving as the commissioner of the following single-sport conferences: Colonial Hockey Conference, Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, National Intercollegiate Rugby Association and New England Hockey Conference. In addition, she is currently serving a four-year appointment on the NCAA Division III Women’s Ice Hockey Committee, which she has chaired for the last two seasons.

Boldvich graduated magna cum laude from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. Boldvich was also a Division III student-athlete, playing both soccer and softball and served as captain on both teams.

“I would like to thank the members of the search committee for giving me this opportunity to serve the NECC as their next Commissioner. I am excited to work with exceptional people and institutions who are committed to focusing on student-athlete well-being and who value the importance of academic and athletic excellence as a conference. There are endless opportunities for growth and leadership both regionally and nationally and I can’t wait to work with the NECC constituencies to meet new goals, said Boldvich.”

President Janet Steinmayer of Mitchell College served as the Chair of the Search Committee for this position. She said, “We're delighted to welcome Katie as the Commissioner of the New England Collegiate Conference. She brings a wealth of experience as a Division III student-athlete, coach and Commissioner of multiple collegiate sports leagues, as well as a background in writing and producing with major sports channels-a background that will surely help the Conference continue on its trajectory of growth and commitment to the student experience.”

The NECC began competition in the 2008-09 academic year and current member institutions compete across 14 sports. The NECC membership focuses on providing athletic competition among institutions that share similar academic aspirations and are committed to the importance of the total educational experience for students engaged in sports. Current members for the upcoming academic year include Bay Path University, Becker College, Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College, Newbury College, New England College and Southern Vermont College.
