MARSHFIELD, MASS.- The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced the hiring of Jacob VanRyn as its third Commissioner, effective July 22, 2019.
Current Chair of the NECC President’s Council, Janet Steinmayer of Mitchell College, is excited about the appointment of VanRyn. “We're pleased to welcome Jacob as the Commissioner of the NECC. He is bringing with him a great deal of experience, having served multiple conferences in an associate commissioner role. His expertise and unique perspective will bring the NECC to new heights, as we focus on the continued growth of our conference.”
As NECC Commissioner, VanRyn will lead all aspects of the conference office, and is looking forward to taking the reins. He continued, “I personally would like to thank Dean College President Dr. Paula Rooney and Becker College Vice President of Student Affairs / Director of Athletics Frank Millerick for their leadership throughout the entire process. I'd also like to thank President Janet Steinmayer for her time and commitment as well. The search committee's passion for the NECC only helped reinforce and strengthen my eagerness to build on the solid foundation that has already been laid by the league's terrific leadership,” said Van Ryn. “This position presents a tremendous opportunity for me at an exciting time for the conference with the recent release of the NECC's new brand identity to help carry that momentum forward as we work to continue to grow and develop the league into one of the premier Division III Conferences in the country."
