MANSFIELD, MASS.- This week's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Senior Class of the Week honors the two seniors from the Lesley University Track & Field team. This group was among the first to compete under NECC Track & Field sponsorship, as the women finished third in the inaugural NECC Championship in 2019 and the men finished fourth.
Ethan Merians (Larchmont, New York)
Merians was a four-year member of the track and cross-country teams for the Lynx. He participated in the 100 meter dash during the spring season. Merians is a Human Services major with a minor in social work and is an active member of the SAAC. He was invited to represent Lesley at an NECC SAAC event once in his career.
Kayla Ranere (Danbury, Connecticut)
Ranere was a four-year member of the track and cross-country teams. Ranere participated in the 200 meter and 400 meter races during the track season. She was named the NECC Women's Runner of the Year in the fall after winning the NECC Championship race in cross-country. She recorded a personal best in the 5K this year with a 21:43 time. Ranere is a Digital Filmmaking major and aspires to be a screenwriter.
ABOUT THE NECC
The NECC began competition in the 2008-09 academic year and current member institutions compete across 16 sports. The NECC membership focuses on providing athletic competition among institutions that share similar academic aspirations and are committed to the importance of the total educational experience for students engaged in sports. Current members include Bay Path University, Becker College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College and New England College.
