MANSFIELD, MASS.- This week the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recognizes the lone senior from the New England College softball team, Chanel Welch. Welch has helped the Pilgrims to a 70-58 record in her four seasons, including a program record for wins in 2019, with 30. The Pilgrims have reached the postseason in each of Welch's first three seasons, and reached the NECC Championship game in 2019.

Welch is coming off the best offensive season of her career, batting .359 in her junior campaign, earning first team All-NECC honors for her efforts. She stole 10 bases, and scored 32 runs for the Pilgrims. She started off her senior season with eight hits, eight runs, six stolen bases and two RBIs before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.
ABOUT THE NECC
The NECC began competition in the 2008-09 academic year and current member institutions compete across 15 sports. The NECC membership focuses on providing athletic competition among institutions that share similar academic aspirations and are committed to the importance of the total educational experience for students engaged in sports. Current members include Bay Path University, Becker College, Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College and New England College.
