Becker's Michael McMahon Selected to 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Baseball Team

CoSIDA Academic All-America® Release 

LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College's senior Sport Management major and two-year baseball captain, Michael McMahon (Canton, Mass.), has been named to the 2020 Academic All-America® Division III Baseball Third Team, as selected by the College of Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA).

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athlete award for student-athletes.

McMahon is among four of the 33 members of the 2020 Academic All-America® Division III baseball teams to have a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA.  The average of all the 33 student-athletes named to the three teams is a 3.78 GPA.

Additionally, McMahon is one of four student-athletes named to the list from the New England region, and the lone student-athlete on the list from the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).  

McMahon’s accomplishments over his four years with Becker College, both academically and athletically, are endless.  He was the first-ever Becker College student-athlete to earn back-to-back CoSIDA Academic All-District® honors in 2019 and 2020.  He also was the first Becker College student to receive both the Becker College President's and Dean's awards at commencement.  More recently, he was named the NECC Male Senior Student-Athlete of the Year.  

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athlete award for student-athletes. The program receives 20,000 nominations yearly and selects 4,000 all-district and 1,500 All-America honorees each year. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program was established in 1952.

ABOUT THE NECC 

The NECC began competition in the 2008-09 academic year and current member institutions compete across 15 sports. The NECC membership focuses on providing athletic competition among institutions that share similar academic aspirations and are committed to the importance of the total educational experience for students engaged in sports. Current members include Bay Path University, Becker College, Dean College, Eastern Nazarene College, Elms College, Lesley University, Mitchell College and New England College.
