Southern Vermont's Historic Volleyball Season Comes to End at NCAA Regional
POTSDAM, NY- Behind a well traveled crowd, Southern Vermont College Women’s Volleyball record breaking season came to an end Friday evening at Alumni Gymnasium on the campus of Clarkson University. The Mountaineers ran up against #18 Cortland St. in the Division III NCAA regional tournament. Southern Vermont fell to the Red Dragons 3-0, 25-19, 25-12, and 25-23.

Southern Vermont Volleyball Looks to Continue Great Season at NCAA's
Potsdam, NY- Friday afternoon, Southern Vermont College Women's Volleyball will enter the NCAA Division III tournament at Clarkson University. The Women's Volleyball team is the first Women's program at the school to play in the NCAA's and only the second team in school history. Southern Vermont will take on the Cortland St. Red Dragons at 5:30PM.

NECC 2011 Women's Volleyball All-Conference Teams Announced
Southern Vermont junior outside hitter Jessica Alvarez was selected as the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Year. Alvarez was second in the league averaging 3.52 kills per set with a .390 hitting percentage.

Southern Vermont Wins NECC Women's Volleyball Championship
BENNINGTON, Vt.- Southern Vermont College Women’s Volleyball won the New England Collegiate Conference championship, Saturday afternoon. The Mountaineers won 3-0 over second seeded Newbury College, at the Mountaineer Athletic Center, to advance to the NCAA Division III tournament.

#2 Newbury Sweeps #3 Bay Path in NECC Volleyball Semi-Finals
BENNINGTON, Vt.- The Newbury College Nighthawks won 3-0 over Bay Path College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semi-finals Friday evening, at the Mountaineer Athletic Center on the campus of Southern Vermont. The second seeded Nighthawks will meet the overall number one seed Southern Vermont, Saturday at 2:00PM for the NECC Championship.

Host Southern Vermont Sweeps Daniel Webster to Advance to NECC Women's Volleyball Finals
BENNINGTON, Vt.- The Southern Vermont College Women’s Volleyball team advanced to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) championship game with a 3-0 victory over fourth seeded Daniel Webster College. The Mountaineers and Eagles played the first of two Women’s Volleyball semi-final games at Southern Vermont Friday evening.

In true New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball Championships fashion the host #3 Bay Path College came back for a 3-2 victory over conference newcomer #6 Regis College tonight at the Bartley Center in NECC first round actions.

Daniel Webster Tops Lesley In NECC Tourney Opener, 3-0
Junior Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) hit .571 with a match high nine kills and four service aces and junior Samantha Hill (Hudson, N.H.) added eight kills and seven digs guiding host and fourth-seeded Daniel Webster past fifth-seeded Lesley 3-0 in a quarterfinal match of the New England Collegiate Conference tournament Tuesday night at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

Southern Vermont Earns Top Seed in NECC Women's Volleyball Tournament
Southern Vermont College finished the New England Collegiate Confernece Women's Volleyball season a perfect 8-0 in league play and has earned the top seed in the upcoming NECC Championship. The Mountaineers (29-2 overall, 8-0 NECC) have earned a first round bye and will host the semifinal and final rounds on Friday and Saturday, November 4-5.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College women’s volleyball team picked up its first conference victory of the season on Senior Day by a 3-2 final over Lesley University on Saturday night at the Yarnall Athletic Center.

Jessica Alvarez Named AVCA DIII National Player of the Week
Southern Vermont College Outside Hitter Jessica Alvarez (Eagle Rock, CA) was named the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III National Player of the Week, Tuesday afternoon. The honor marks the first time ever an SVC athlete has earned National Recognition for a week.

Canta Grabs 100th Assist; SVC Wins 8th Straight
BROOKLINE, MA- The Southern Vermont College Women's Volleyball won its eighth straight match Thursday evening at Simmons College. SVC improved to 17-2 with the 3-0 victory over the Sharks. The Mountaineers won by scores of 25-17, 25-20, and 25-14. Senior captain Hershey Canta recorded 28 assists in the game including her 1000th in her career.

NEW LONDON, Conn. – For the second time in five days, the Mitchell College women’s volleyball team needed five sets to post a 3-2 victory over Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday night at the Yarnall Athletic Center.

Southern Vermont Downs Williams, 3-1
The Southern Vermont College Mountaineers made history Wednesday night. The Women's Volleyball program was the first SVC Women's program to ever beat the Williams College Ephs. It is only the second time in school history the Mountaineers beat Williams.

Regis Names Alena Krug as Men’s/Women’s Volleyball Coach
The Regis College Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Alena Krug as the Pride’s head women’s and men’s volleyball coach. Krug will oversee all administrative, recruiting, and coaching aspects of both teams and will supervise the departments equipment operations.

California Comes East
BENNINGTON, Vt.- Many athletes have the dream of getting out of their home town to play college sports. 3,000 miles away from home is a different story. Southern Vermont College has 12 athletes on their roster this fall that call California home. The trend started last year when Women's Volleyball Head Coach Josh Stokes recruited three players from the west coast to play at SVC. Two more California natives followed for the 2011 Men's Volleyball season.

Daniel Webster Picked to Win NECC Women's Volleyball Title in Preseason Poll
Daniel Webster College has been chosen the preseason favorite to win the NECC women's volleyball title in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. The Eagles, who return five starters from a team that went a perfect 7-0 in conference play, received four first place votes and 72 points.

Newbury's Chen Selected as NECC Nomination for NCAA Woman of the Year
Recent 2011 Newbury College graduate, Amy Chen (Chelmsford, Mass.), was recognized as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)’s honoree for this year’s NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The award honors outstanding female student-athletes who have shown great leadership and have excelled in all three phases of college life: academics, athletics and the college community.
