ATTLEBORO, Mass.--Daniel Webster has claimed the top seed for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) the 2008 NECC Women's Volleyball Championship, which begins with quarterfinal matchups on campus sites Wednesday night at 7:00/ 7:30 p.m. The Eagles (14-7 overall) earned the top spot in the upcoming NECC tournament after posting a 6-1 conference record.

Both Daniel Webster and Elms (9-13 overall) were tied in the final NECC standings with a 6-1 record. As specified in the NECC women's volleyball championships guidelines, a two-way tie will be broken first by head-to-head results.

The Eagles grabbed the #1 seed by defeating the Blazers 3-0 on October 18.  Elms will be the #2 seeded team, with both the Eagles and Blazers earning a bye in the quarterfinals.

Just like the tie for first place in final conference play, the Becker Hawks (10-14 overall) and the Lesley Lynx (7-10 overall) are knotted for third place. Both schools finished with a 5-2 NECC record. Again looking at head-to-head competition Becker defeated Lesley 3-1 on October 4 giving the Hawks the #3 seed in the championships. The Lynx will be the #4 seed.

The Mitchell Mariners (7-13 overall) earned the #5 seed going 3-4 during the 2008 conference play. Rounding out the tournament bracket is the Newbury Nighthawks (3-23 overall) at the #6 seed finishing their season with a 2-5 NECC record.

On Wednesday, October 29 #3 Becker will host #6 Newbury in Leicester, Mass. at 7:00 p.m. start time, while #4 Lesley will host #5 Mitchell at a 7:30 p.m. start time.

The winners of these quarterfinal matches will advance to semifinals at Daniel Webster's campus for semifinals.

As the #1 seed Daniel Webster will host the semifinals and championship match in Nashua, N.H. on Saturday, November 1. Game times and match-ups are listed below in the bracket format.
