Nessen and Watson Grab Women's Tennis Weekly Awards

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Becker College junior Megan Nessen (Levittown, Penn.) helped the Hawks to a 3-0 week including defeating conference opponents Lesley (5-4) and Newbury (8-1). Nessen went 3-0 in #1 singles action and 3-0 in the #1 doubles spot. She defeated Lesley’s Courtney Mullen 6-4, 6-7, 7-3 in a heated battle, while taking Newbury’s Jennifer Swafford 6-1, 6-2. Becker also downed MCLA 8-1, where she topped Carrie Richards 7-6, 3-7, 6-4.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK –Bay Path freshman Symone Watson (Hamden, Conn.) helped the Wildcats take at least a piece of the 2010 NECC Tennis Championship title. Watson and Bay Path finished regular season play with a 10-1 record going 3-0 on the week defeating Lesley (6-3), Mitchell (7-2) and non-conf team MCLA (9-0). Watson went 2-1 at the #3 singles and 3-0 at the #2 doubles.
