Bendzin and Mimms Share Women's Tennis Weekly Honors


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Bay Path senior Julia Bendzin (Poetsenkill, N.Y.) had a stellar week for the Wildcats highlighted by earning 2009 NECC Women's Tennis Player of the Year honors. Bendzin played two matches and made her way through the flighted championships this week. In their one finished match of the week, Bendzin won both #1singles and #1 doubles with partner Kara Fox in a 6-3 victory over NECC opponent Newbury. In the flighted Championships, Bendzin continued her undefeated streak taking the #1 singles title in a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Becker's Megan Nessen in the finals.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Becker College sophomore Laura Mimms (Ashland, Mass.) also had a stellar week for the Hawks including being named the 2009 NECC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year. Mimms played three matches and made her way through the flighted championships this past week. In their two finished matches of the week, Mimms went 2-0 at the #2 singles and 1-1 in #2 doubles. Mimms also won both the #2 singles championship title and the #2 doubles championship title with partner  Megan Nessen.
