Bay Path and Newbury Shares Women's Tennis Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Bay Path senior Raquel Babeu (North Adams, Mass.) returned after an injury to win her #1 singles match 6-0, 6-0 against NECC opponent Mitchell's Jennifer Travella. The Wildcats advance to 9-1 on the season and complete the first round of conference play with a 3-0 New England Collegiate Conference record.

 

 

 


 


PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Newbury senior Anna Collins (Hopkinton, Mass.) helped lead her team to three consecutive wins and a 2-0 weekly record. The Nighthawks defeated Anna Maria 7-2 and Pine Manor 9-0. Collins won two #3 singles matches and teamed with teammate Jillian Wojotowicz for an 8-0 shut-out in the #1 doubles match against Nicole Voce and Patty Pabone of Pine Manor.

 

 

 

 

 



ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Bay Path freshman Sarah Costa (Tiverton, R.I.), three-time NECC Rookie-of-the-Week, still tops the conference in doubles action with an undefeated record at the #3 spot with partner Cristina Ruiz. Again, the Wildcats went 2-0 for the week working on a nine game winning streak. Costa was undefeated in both singles and doubles action. She easily shut-down her opponents St. Joseph (Conn.) and NECC foe Mitchell at #4 in singles and #2 in doubles play.

 

 

 

 

 

 


ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
- Newbury sophomore Elizabeth Valcourt (Grantham, N.H.) provided four individual victories at #4/#5 singles and #2 doubles action for the Nighthawks' 2-0 week. Valcourt helped launch her team to a .500 record at 4-4 on the season. The defeated Anna Maria 7-2 and Pine Manor 9-0. Teaming up with partner Stephanie Valentine they shut-down their tandem opponents 8-0 in both #2 doubles matches.
