Bulldogs Break Through Against Mariners

THE LEAD: 

The Dean College Bulldogs thoroughly controlled play against Mitchell College, earning a 2-0 victory for their first win of the season on Saturday at Dale Lippert Field in Franklin, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Bulldogs broke through a 60 minute scoreless stalemate with a header from Alison Nelson (Candia, N.H.), assisted by McKenna Gill (Binghamton, N.Y.), at the 35 minute mark of the second half. 
  • Dean added some insurance with nine minutes remaining when Emma Morrison(Northport, N.Y.) drilled a shot from the outside that trickled into the bottom corner. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Nelson's goal was her team-leading third of the season.  Morrison's goal was her second of the campaign, to add to one assist.  Gill's assist was her first point of 2017.
  • Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) earned her first win of the season in the goal for Dean.  She had 11 saves, her seventh straight start with double-digit saves. 
  • Arianna Mederios (Tewksbury, Mass.) was all over the field for the Bulldogs.  She had six shots on the day and created numerous opportunities for her teammates. 
  • Dean outshot Mitchell 39-17 and held an 18-11 edge in shots on goal.   Mitchell's Jordan Lohneiss (West Hartford, Conn.) made 16 saves for the Mariners in the losing effort.
