NECC 2011 Women's Soccer All-Conference Selections Announced

Lesley sophomore forward Veronica Halen wsa selected as the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Soccer Player of the Year. Halen tied for the league lead with 11 goals in conference play season to go along with five assists for the first-place Lynx, leading the team to an 8-0 finish in NECC play.

Mitchell College goalkeeper Kaylee Woodford was chosen as the NECC Goalkeeper of the Year. The sophomore made 50 saves allowing just seven goals in nine conference games for a 0.72 goals against average.

The NECC Rookie of the Year was Mitchell freshman Maariyah Lombardo. Lombardo led the Mariners and tied for sixth in the NECC in scoring with nine goals for 18 points including three game-winning goals.

Lesley head coach Paul Vascancelos was voted Coach of the Year by his peers after piloting the Lynx to a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play, finishing unbeaten for the third straight season.

Bay Path was honored with the league's Sportsmanship Award.

NECC all-conference selections are determined by a vote of the conference coaches.
