NECC to add women's lacrosse as conference sport in 2013
The New England Collegiate Conference announced today that it will add women's lacrosse as a varsity conference sport, effective with the 2012-13 season. The addition of these sports brings to 15 the number of varsity sports the NECC will sponsor in 2012-13.
Six NECC members will sponsor the sport - Bay Path College, Becker College, Daniel Webster College, Elms College, Regis College and Wheelock College - with competition begining in the spring of 2013 with the conference regular season and tournament play. Schools will be eligible for NCAA tournament play through at-large selection.
"We are pleased to offer Women's Lacrosse as a conference sport beginning in the Spring of 2013," said NECC Commissioner Del Malloy. "This is yet another step in our goal to offer a quality athletic experience to the student-athletes at our member schools."
