O'Mara, Joubert and Hook Awarded Final Women's Hoops Weekly Nods
PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Lesley University senior forward Rachael O’Mara (Levittown, N.Y.) led the Lynx to a final 3-0 week defeating Wheelock (54-36), Daniel Webster (62-49) and regional opponent Plymouth State 61-52. Lesley earned the top seed in the 2010 NECC Women’s Basketball Championship. O’Mara averaged 24.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.7 steals per game. For the week, O’Mara shot 47% (27-for-57) from the field, 65% (9-for-14) from the arc and a 65% (11-for-17) from the free-throw line.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK — Becker College freshman guard Chelsea Joubert (Westborough, Mass.) registered 13.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, helping the Hawks to a 3-0 week victories over Elms (73-54), Southern Vermont (61-58) and Mitchell (62-60). Joubert’s best effort of 15 points helped propel the Hawks by one bucket over the second-seeded Mariners. For the week, she shot 46% (16-for-35) from the field, 33% (4-for-12) from downtown and 33% (5-for-15) from the stripe.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK — Bay Path
freshman guard Justine Hook (Berwick, Penn.)
scored 18
points and ten rebounds in their final game of the season falling
55-34 to Mitchell. Hook also threw in three assists and one
steal. For the week, she shot 35% (6-for-17) from the field,
50% (4-for-8) from behind the arc and 100% (2-for-2) from the
stripe.
