Hunt and O'Connell Named NECC Women's Basketball Player and Rookie for the Week

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Bay Path senior forward Jessica Hunt (Madison, Conn.) led the Wildcats to a 1-1 week. Hunt averaged 19.0 points and 13.5 rebounds per game. In a 59-21 rout of Hampshire College, she managed 19 points, ten rebounds, three assists, five steals and one block. In a tough 43-39 loss to Johnson State, Hunt again put up 19 points, and was a defensive threat with 17 rebounds, four blocks and three steals. For the week, she averaged 30% (9-for-30) from the field and 83% (20-for-24) from the charity stripe.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Newbury College freshman center Catherine O'Connell (Quincy, Mass.) averaged a double-double with 11.5 points and 11.0 rebounds for the week in only her second and third collegiate games. Despite two tough losses for the Nighthawks, O'Connell gave impressive numbers defensively including 22 rebounds, six blocks and two steals. For the two-game series, she averaged 40% (10-for-25) from the field and 50% (3-for-6) from the line.
