Whitcomb, Provost and Crawford Grab Weekly Softball Honors
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Bay Path College sophomore infielder Maeghan Whitcomb (Lyndon, Vt.) batted .500 (10-for-24) while leading the Wildcats to a 4-4 opening week during their Spring Break trip to Myrtle Beach. Whitcomb had three doubles, one triple and one home run. She slugged .762, fielded .971 and had a .611 on-base percentage. Whitcomb brought home an impressive 21 RBI’s for the week.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Bay Path freshman Ashley Provost (Ludlow, Mass.) hurled her way to a 2-1 collegiate debut for the Wildcats. The freshman pitcher went 21.1 innings for a 2.33 ERA. She fanned 21 batters. Provost notched her first collegiate start and victory in a 4-0 shut-out of U-Mass. Dartmouth.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Daniel Webster College freshman centerfielder Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) led the Eagles to a 2-0 sweep of Regis winning the opener 6-3 and the nightcap 7-6 in nine innings. Crawford reached base seven of her eight at bats. She slugged two triples for a .625 batting average, 1.125 slugging percentage and .625 on-base percentage. Crawford had a perfect fielding percentage.
