Lesley Grabs #2 Seed in ECAC Softball Championships

 CAPE COD, Mass. After winning the 2010 NECC Championship title the Lynx will continue their run as the #2 seed in the 2010 ECAC Softball Tournament. After finishing the regular-season with a 26-14-1 record, Keene State was selected as the number one seed in the 2010 ECAC Division III New England Softball Championship

The tournament is an six-team field with a quarterfinal round followed by a double-elimination format for the remaining four teams.

In the first round contests on Wednesday, May 12, No. 3 WNEC (26-19-1) plays Worcester State (19-17) at a time to be determined at WNEC and Anna Maria (22-21) will take on Bridgewater State (18-18) at 4 p.m. in the No. 4/No. 5 match-up at Bridgewater State.

The first-round winners will advance to play on Saturday, May 15, at Keene State. Keene State will face the winner of No. 4 Anna Maria/No. 5 Bridgewater State at 10 a.m. in Game 1 of the double elimination format, and No. 2 Lesley University will play the winner of WNEC/Worcester State at 12 p.m. in Game 2. The loser of Game 1 and the loser of Game 2 will play an elimination game (Game 3) at 2:00 p.m.

The winner of Game 1 and the winner of Game 2 will square off in the Winner’s Bracket (Game 4) at 4:00 p.m. In the first game on Sunday (Game 5) the winner of Game 3 and the loser of Game 4 will face off in an elimination game at 10:00 a.m. The Game 4 winner and the Game 5 winner will meet for the championship at 12 p.m. If necessary, a Game 7 will be played immediately following Game 6 to complete the double elimination format at 2:00 p.m.
