Daley and Barahona Earn Weekly Men's Volleyball Honors
PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Newbury College senior middle blocker Max Daley (Cranston, R.I.) hit .463 for the week amassing 58 kills in 19 sets played. The Nighthawks went 2-3 on the week defeating Elmira (3-1) and Kean (3-2), while falling to Rivier (3-0), #6 Philadelphia Biblical (3-1) and #10 Carthage (3-0). Despite the tough loss against ranked Philly, Daley hit an amazing .714 with tallying 16 kills in four sets. He averaged 3.0 kills per set and 0.89 blocks per set (17 blocks).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK —Southern Vermont College freshman outside hitter Anthony Barahona (Eagle Rock, Calif.) helped the Mountaineers to a 1-1 week defeating Regis 3-0 and narrowly falling to NECC opponent Daniel Webster 3-2. Barahona averaged 3.75 kills per game and 3.12 digs per set. He hit .348 tallying 40 kills. He chipped in four assists, three service aces and three blocks.
