Mariners' Carmona and Devona Sweep Men's Tennis Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – For the second straight week, Mitchell College sophomore Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) earned NECC Player of the Week honors. The Mariners finished 2-0 on the week, defeating Post 9-0 and conference opponent Lesley 7-2. Carmona won twice at the #1 singles position 6-1, 6-2 against Post player Caio Rodrigues and 6-2, 6-4 vs. the Lynx’ David Newton. He teamed with Rocco Devona to go 2-0 in #1 doubles action, as well.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Mitchell College freshman Rocco Devona (Waterford, Conn.) notched his second consecutive weekly honors in men’s tennis, effectively shutting down both of his opponents 6-0, 6-0 in the #2 singles spot.  While pairing with Carmona, the tandem defeated Post players Rodriguez and Ahmetovic 8-5 and the Lynx’ pair of  Mattox and Zhitnik 8-1 in the #1 doubles position
