Mitchell Sweeps Men's Tennis Weekly Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Mitchell College sophomore Kyle Carmona (Norwich, Conn.) helped the Mariners finish the season undefeated and win its second straight New England Collegiate Conference title. Carmona and the Mariners went 3-0 on the week defeating Becker (8-1), Newbury (9-0) and Wheelock (9-0). While pairing with rookie winner Rocco Devona, the tandem grabbed three doubles wins 8-3, 8-1 and 8-1 respectively at the #1 position. Carmona defeated Becker’s Charles Heard 6-2, 6-1, Newbury’s Nicholas Sehovich 6-0, 6-1 and Wheelock’s Wilson Chang 6-0, 6-0.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK –Mitchell College freshman Rocco Devona (Waterford, Conn.) again earned rookie honors helping the Mariners to a 3-0 NECC week.  While pairing with player of the Week Carmona, the tandem won all three #1 sets. Devona also went undefeated at the #2 singles spot taking down Becker’s Chris Parker 6-4, 6-2, Newbury’s Ryan Sevieri 6-0, 6-0 and Wheelock’s Robert Venning 6-1, 6-2.
