Newbury, Becker and Elms Share Weekly Men's Soccer Honors

PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Newbury College sophomore midfielder Shaundize Moosavizadeh (Winchester, Mass.) led the Nighthawks to a 1-1 week defeating NECC top ranked Lesley 1-0 in overtime action and falling to Emerson 2-1 in double overtime action. Moosavizadeh served up a perfect free kick to grab the assist in the upset over Lesley. For the week, he had one goal, one assist for three points.

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK — For the second week, Becker College freshman forward Aldo Karkanjozi (Sterling Heights, Mich.) earned NECC men’s soccer rookie honors. He helped the Hawks to a 1-1 falling to Eastern Conn. 8-1 and defeated NECC rival Mitchell 3-0. He netted the game winner in the victory over the Mariners. Karkanjozi tallied three goals and one assist for seven points.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK — Elms College freshman forward Nzigamasa Jonathan (Springfield, Mass.) recorded a hat-trick in their first conference win of the season defeating Wheelock 10-0. The Blazers also fell 4-0 to NECC opponent Daniel Webster. Jonathan finished the week with three goals and one assist for seven points.
