Mawson Nets 50th Career Goal
BROOKLINE, Mass.-- Newbury College Nighthawks Senior
Captain John Mawson (Amherst, MA/Amherst) scored
his 50th career goal on Wednesday October 7, 2008
against NECC opponent Lesley University. Mawson scored the
game winning goal in a 3-2 victory for the Nighthawks moving them
into 5th place in the conference.
Mawson (right) has led the Nighthawks in scoring for the
past 4 seasons netting 12 goals in 2005, 16 goals in 2006, 13 goals
in 2007, and currently has 9 goals this season with 5 regular
season games left to play.
Mawson, a Culinary Management Major, is no stranger to the leadership role as he is a member of the Newbury College Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), an Orientation Leader at Newbury College and a member of the recently established NECC SAAC.
Mawson and the Nighthawks will take to the field next on Thursday October 9, 2008 when they take on non-conference opponent UMass Boston; start time is 3:30pm.
