Babson Chosen Preseason Favorite to Win NECC Golf Title
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Babson College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's golf championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC's head golf coaches.

Babson and Springfield are associate members of the New England
The Babson College Beavers received four of the seven first-place votes in the 2009 NECC preseason poll. The Beavers are led by head coach Mike Vassalotti. Babson took the place of MIT in the NECC after the Engineers dropped the program.
Babson will be led by junior Bryan Eger (Marion, Mass.) who finished third at the 2008 ECAC New England Championships. Eger shot an even 144 (72-72)for the two rounds.
Springfield College, the 2008 NECC Champions, placed second with 36 points and two first-place votes. Becker College received the third place spot with 26 points, while Mitchell College was fourth with 22 points. Elms College rounded out the top five with 21 points.
Teams received seven points for every first place vote received, six points for second place votes, five points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
