Jacobs, Spratling and Thomas Earn Final Weekly Men's Basketball Awards

 

 

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK — For the second straight week, Becker College senior center Trae Jacobs (Lexington Park, Md.) earned player of the week honors.  He averaged 15.0 points helping the Hawks stay undefeated in the NECC with a 14-0 record including a 2-0 conference record for the week securing the top seed in the 2011 NECC Basketball Championship.  Jacobs also averaged 7.5 rebounds and two steals per game.  He shot 56% (14-for-25) from the field and 29% (2-for-7) from the charity stripe.

 

 

 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK — Southern Vermont senior guard Lance Spratling (Pittsfield, Mass.) averaged 20.5 points helping the Mountaineers to a 1-1 week including an 82-71 victory over Newbury. Spratling registered 29 points against the Nighthawks. He shot 56% (14-for-25) from the field, a smashing 54% (7-for-13) from behind the arc and 55% (6-for-11) from the charity stripe.

 

 

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK — Mitchell College freshman forward/center Chris Thomas (Orlando, Fla.) scored in double figures in both final NECC games against Lesley and Becker. He averaged 11.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.  For the week, Thomas shot 47% (8-for-17) from the field and 70% (7-for-10) from the line.
