#2 Elms and #4 Becker Earn Spots in 2010 ECAC Men's Basketball Tourney


CAPE COD, Mass.--The 2010 ECAC Men's Basketball Selection has been made with two NECC school's including Elms College and Becker College earning spots in the field of eight tournament for the New England portion of the tournament.

#2 Elms (21-6) will host #7 Curry College (15-13) on Wednesday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Picknelly Arena. Curry suffered a heartbreaking 56-54 loss to Gordon College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Championship on Saturday. While, the Blazers defeated Becker College in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship title game on Saturday and has now won six straight conference championships. The squad has also won 20 or more games in each of the last six seasons.

Becker is the 2009 ECAC Defending Champions.

For the second straight season the Becker Hawks have earned the #4 seed in the  tournament. Again, much like last year the Hawks will host the #5seed Rams of Framingham State (16-10) on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. In the opening round of the 2009 ECAC tournament the Hawks defeated Framingham State 95-71. Travis Suber led the Hawks with 34 points. Terrance Favors chipped in with 18 points. Framingham State lost to Bridgewater State 74-70 in overtime, in the MASCAC finals. The Rams are carried by Josue Almodovar (Holyoke, Mass), who has scored 452 points, averaging 17.4 PPG.
