Leggett and Cenicola Grab Final 2009 Men's Basketball Weekly Awards

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Becker College junior forward Rajai Leggett (New Haven, Conn.) posted a stellar double-double week averaging 24.7 points and 10.6 rebounds for the Hawks. Leggett helped Becker to a 2-1 week. In a 67-60 win over Coast guard he had 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists. In a tough 82-72 loss against Clark, Leggett hammered 32 points and 13 boards for the Hawks. Finally, in an 86-63 victory over Fitchburg he finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds. For the week, Leggett went 57% (31-for-54) from the field, a sizzling 100% (1-for-1) from behind the arc and 69% (11-for-16) from the free-throw line.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - For the second time this season, Southern Vermont freshman guard Derrick Cenicola (Hamilton, N.Y.) grabbed Rookie Honors from the NECC. He finished with 26 points, four assists, three rebounds, one block and one assist in a 75-69 conference victory over Mitchell. Cenicola shot 77% (7-for-9) from the floor, a sizzling 88% (7-for-8) from behind the arc and 83% (5-for-6) from charity stripe.
