CHICOPEE, Mass., June 10, 2008 – The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) recently announced the addition of Springfield College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, MIT, as associate conference members in the sport of men’s golf.

Springfield and MIT join charter men’s golf sponsoring conference members Becker, Daniel Webster, Elms, Mitchell and Newbury.

With the addition of Springfield and MIT, the NECC now has seven competing teams and is eligible for an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III Championship beginning in 2010-11 following a mandatory two-year waiting period by the NCAA.

“We are very excited to have two quality golf programs and institutions join our conference as associate members in men’s golf”, NECC Athletic Director’s Council Chair Louise McCleary said.

The NECC will host its first-ever men’s golf championship October 11-12, 2008.
