NASHUA, N.H. - Sophomore defender Samantha Cotoni (Groton, Mass.) flicked home a penalty stroke at the 48-minute mark of Saturday's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship at Harvey Woods Field and the goal held up as the eventual game-winner giving top-seeded Daniel Webster College its first NECC tournament championship with a 1-0 victory over second-seeded and two-time defending tournament champion Becker College Saturday at Harvey Woods Field.

Daniel Webster (12-4) controlled the pace of the game, finishing with the advantage in overall shots (13-5) and shots on goal (8-3).

Junior goalkeeper Nakita Gosselin (Springfield, Vt.) recorded seven saves in the contest for the Hawks (9-12).

Junior goalie Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) finished with three saves for the Eagles.

Junior midfielder Natalie Bates (N. Kingstown, R.I.) was named the NECC Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

The third-year Eagles had a spectacular season setting the program record for most victories while finishing as the top team in the regular season.

The NECC title is the fourth for the College over the past two years.

The All Tournament team included Bates, Cotoni, sophomore defender Meaghan Farrelly (Jamestown, R.I) and senior defender Sarah Steves (Granville, N.Y.) from Daniel Webster, Gosselin, senior defender Jessica Provencher (Berwick, Maine), sophomore forward Brooke Cote (Fitchburg, Mass.) and junior midfielder Victoria Sirchia (Goshen, Conn.) from Becker, freshman defender Dakota Ripley (Marathon, N.Y.) and senior goalkeeper Meredith Race (Marion, Mass.)  from Wheelock College, and senior defender Amber Hogenmiller (Hinsdale, N.H.) and senior goalkeeper Kim Barbato (Saylorsburg, Penn.) from Bay Path College.
