Elms Will Face Becker in NECC Field Hockey Championship after Defeating Daniel Webster 2-1

NASHUA, N.H. - The third seeded Elms College field hockey team advanced to the inaugural New England Collegiate field hockey championship game with a 2-1 victory over second seeded Daniel Webster College Wednesday afternoon.

Elms will face the winner of the second semifinal between top seed Becker College and fourth seed Wheelock College Saturday.

Sarah Lapolice (West Springfield, Mass.) led the Blazers (6-12) with a goal and assist, while Christine Fleury (South Hadley, Mass.) notched the eventual game winner in the first half.

Lapolice put the visitors ahead just 17 seconds into the game off a Courtney Gilmore feed. Fleury later upped the lead to 2-0 at the 27:11 mark from Lapolice.

Sarah Steves (N. Granville, N.Y.) put the Eagles (5-9) on the board tipping home a Natalie Bates (N. Kingstown, R.I.) shot with 22:40 remaining.

Katelyn Wasgatt (Worcester, Mass.) made five saves for Elms. Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) made six saves for Daniel Webster.
