Elms and Mitchell Share Weekly Baseball Honors
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Elms College junior infielder Brendan Cordeiro (Berkeley, Mass.) led the Blazers to a 3-3 week hitting safely in all six contests. Cordeiro batted .538 (14-for-26), slugged.808 and had a .586 on-base percentage while finishing with a .846 fielding percentage. He notched six RBI, five doubles, three stolen bases and one triple. Cordeiro managed four multiple hit games including going 4-for-5 in a 9-3 victory over Southern Vermont.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Mitchell College senior pitcher Jeremy Chapman (Waterford, Conn.) pitched a 5-0 shut-out of NECC opponent Becker. He hurled a seven inning two-hit victory. Chapman fanned 11 batters, while walking only two Hawks. Chapman notched a 0.00 ERA for the week. Chapman has earned the NECC pitching honors four times this season.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Once again, Elms College freshman centerfielder Stephen Fisher (West Boylston, Mass.) takes rookie honors. He batted .458 (11-for-24) hitting safely in five of the six contests. The Blazers went 3-3 on the week. Fisher had a .792 slugging percentage and a .536 on-base percentage. He added nine RBI, one double, two triples and one homerun. Fisher notched three multiple hit games on the week.
