Wells, Kiro and Graynor Nab Final NECC Weekly Honors


 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Southern Vermont  freshman RHP/catcher Eric Wells (Athens, Pa.) batted .533 (8-for-15), while chipping in six runs and four RBI for the Mountaineers.  Wells helped his team to a 2-3 week, hitting safely in all five games, collecting multiple hits in two contests, and crushing three home runs. In a split with NECC opponent Becker, he nailed all three home runs, leading his team to an 11-5 victory in the opener going 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. He did not strike out in his 15 trips to the plate, as he is currently ranked 4th in the NCAA DIII statistics for toughest to strike out category.  Wells slugged an amazing 1.133 and posted a .667 on-base percentage for the week.

 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Daniel Webster freshman Kory Kiro (Goffstown, N.H.) tossed ten innings, notching two wins for a 0.00 weekly ERA. Kiro went the distance in a 1-0 shutout of NECC rival Mitchell College allowing only four hits, while fanning eight and walking three batters. In his relief effort against Rivier,  he shut the door with a 9-8 win allowing, no runs on no hits for three innings of work. Kiro struck out three and placed two on-base for the Eagles.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Mitchell College freshman outfielder Ethan Graynor (Leonia, N.J.) batted .429 (6-for-14) with one  homer,  four RBI and five runs scored as the Mariners finished with a 3-1 weekly mark. Graynor hit safely in all contests including two multiple hit games.  He finished with a .857 slugging percentage, a .556 on-base percentage and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage for the week.
