BOSTON, MA - Wheelock College student-athletes are collaborating with local corporations to host the Showcase 4 Haiti: An Evening of Solidarity & Service on Monday, March 28, the school's second annual fundraiser benefiting Haitian relief efforts following a devastating 2010 earthquake. The event, which will incorporate a mixture of musical and spoken performers, dancers and apparel designers, begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Wheelock Family Theatre.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to buy their tickets in advance online here. Under the "Athletic Department" link, tickets are available for a general-admission price of $5 and for special VIP seating at $15. A select amount of tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the door the night of the show.

Proceeds from the Showcase 4 Haiti will aid the college's relief work in Haiti through such endeavors as the purchase of critical medical equipment for the Pediatrics Ward at the University Hospital in Port-au-Prince. While being joined by additional student-athletes, Wheelock's field hockey team has served as the primary organizer of the event after playing a major role in last year's Walk 4 Haiti, which raised more than $1,000 for the American Red Cross's Haiti Relief and Development Fund. Thanks to its efforts, Wheelock was one of 14 Division III institutions lauded recently by the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators (NADIIIAA) for its community service work.

In addition to students, staff and faculty performing, such corporations as Maine-based Atlantic Sportswear and Boston-based Life is good have committed to supporting the event. Atlantic Sportswear has donated 100 T-shirts and is sponsoring the show, while the Life is good Playmakers - whose mission is to support the healthy development of young children who have been deeply impacted by trauma - will take the stage with company chief executive officer Steve Gross. Selected Life is good clothing will be modeled, and the company will serve as a vendor, with proceeds from purchases of their merchandise during the show going toward its own Haitian relief efforts. (More information about Life is good's Haitian relief efforts can be found here.)

Founded in 1888 and located in Boston, Wheelock is a private institution with the public mission of improving the quality of life for children and their families.
