Becker Men and Lesley Women Awarded 2008-2009 Inaugural NECC Champions Cups
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) concluded its inaugural season with the Becker College Hawks and the Lesley University Lynx winning the 2008-2009 Men's and Women's NECC Champions Cup for their top performances in conference regular-season and tournament play.
The Becker College men's programs received the highest ranking in
the NECC with 16.5 points (.687) out of a possible 24. The Hawks
won the 2008 Men's Soccer Championship title as well as the 2009
Baseball Championship title. They finished as runners-up in Men's
Tennis and were third place finishers in the 2008 Men's Golf
Championships.
The Elms College men's programs finished in a close second place with 15 points (.555) out of 27. The Blazers won the 2008-2009 Men's Basketball Championship title as well as the 2009 Men's Volleyball title while earning the runners-up trophy in baseball. Mitchell College (3rd), Daniel Webster College (4th), Lesley University (5th), Newbury College (6th), Southern Vermont College (7th) and Wheelock (8th) rounded out the 2008-2009 NECC Men's Champions Cup Standings.
The Lesley University women's programs notched the highest
ranking in the NECC with 21 (.777) out of a possible 27 points.
The Lynx won four titles this past year including the 2008 Women's
Cross Country Championship, the 2008 Women's Volleyball
Championship, the 2008-2009 Women's Basketball Championship and the
2009 Softball Championship. Lesley also earned the runners-up
trophy in women's soccer.
The Elms College women's programs finished in second place with 18.5 (.560) out of a possible 33 points. The Blazers won the 2008 Women's Soccer Championship title, while they were runners-up in volleyball and field hockey. Becker College (3rd), Daniel Webster College (4th), Mitchell College (5th), Newbury College (6th), Bay Path College (7th), Wheelock College (8th) and Southern Vermont (9th) rounded out the 2008-2009 NECC Women's Champions Cup Standings.
