Southern Vermont Transitions to SVCathletics.com
Southern Vermont College, an NCAA Division III independent
beginning play in the New England Collegiate Conference next
season, has partnered with PrestoSports for an innovative new
athletics web site. Members of the Southern Vermont athletics staff
and PrestoSports have embarked on the design process for the new
home of the Mountaineers.
"We're excited," Southern Vermont Director of Athletics Ben Kozik
said. "When people first hear about Southern Vermont athletics they
will go to our website. This innovative new site will leave a
lasting impression and increase the chance a prospective student
athlete will choose to be a Mountaineer."
This fall, the Mountaineers will open play as a charter member of
the New England Collegiate Conference. Southern Vermont College
currently competes as a member of the Association of Division III
Independents (AD3I), North East Collegiate Volleyball Association
(NECVA) and New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU).
Southern Vermont College student-athletes participate on 13
different varsity teams. The Mountaineers challenge some of New
England's top programs in baseball, men's and women's basketball,
men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's
rugby, men's and women's soccer, softball and men's and women's
volleyball.
"Words can not describe the gratitude I have to SVC President
Karen Gross for allowing me the opportunity to give our athletics
department a new look," said Southern Vermont College Director of
Sports Information Tim McCaffrey. "At a small school like ours
every student has a story and those stories need to be seen. This
will be the second time I have worked with PrestoSports. Last time,
we increased hits, which led to increased applications and that led
to a greater enrollment. The more people who know about Southern
Vermont College the increased chance more people will come and
visit and see how wonderful an institution we have."
The new home of Southern Vermont athletics features a unique
design and the latest in online tools from PrestoSports. The site
will integrate into the D3Scoreboard system for instant score
updates and into the NECC site - another PrestoSports client. The
Mountaineers staff will take advantage of a content management
system specifically designed for college athletics with easily
manageable bios, rosters, news releases, scoreboards, StatCrew
pages and more.
"The administrative team at Southern Vermont has a clear vision
for the future. We're pleased that they have chosen PrestoSports to
help position Mountaineer athletics for prospective students,
alumni, fans, the student body and members of the Bennington
community," PrestoSports Vice President Patrick Summers said.
"We've enjoyed our relationship with the NECC and member schools
Elms and Mitchell - now we're excited to help Southern Vermont make
its mark with a new web site."
Located on a beautiful mountainside campus overlooking the Green
Mountains of Vermont, Southern Vermont College is a nurturing
habitat for the qualities that will help students succeed in work
and in life. The college's focus on liberal arts encourages
critical thinking, the development of original ideas, and an
understanding of our complex world. SVC's focus on careers will
give students practical skills and experience. And because the
campus extends into the local township, students learn how to
connect with and work within a real community in order to make the
world a better place.
